Love it
I purchased this crate for in my vehicle. My 7 lb Chihuahua mixes in this. All the dogs are crated in the vehicle for their safety and ours. She has plenty of room in here she’s able to stand and turn around completely. She has a Primo pad at the bottom and those are pretty thick so she’s still able to stand and turn around in here. And of course her blankets and a couple toys. I wish there were some more connectors to make the top and bottom connection a little more stable. However she is bungee corded in the vehicle to the tie downs in the vehicle.This is a great little travel crate for smaller dogs. And again she’s about 7 lb and a chihuahua mix. And there is plenty of room for the water and food bowl combo attached to the front door of her crate as well. There is also plenty of ventilation with this crate.And of course we attach the picture for cuteness of her showing off her Dirty Paws after running a muddy field the other day.

Great kennel-Love it!
Having purchased and trying to save a little bit of money I ordered 4 Petmate Traditional Kennel, Small, Light Gray kennels in the last year. I found myself back in the process of buying 4 new kennels. This time a little more careful about my purchases. Having read the reviews on this product I decided to go ahead and purchase 2 of the Petmate Vari Kennel, Small, Bleached Linen. I have had these kennels for over six months and they have held up quite nicely. In fact I am now buying 2 more as I did want to rush out agian and buy 4 as I originally had and make the same mistake. This product is worth the money. For price comparison to many other like kennels this kennel is just as nice. The plastic is thick, the doors open and shut smoothly, easy to put togeather and stack nicely. The airlines allowd me to ship with this kennel even though the small kennel does not have the holes in the back it was fine for shipping. I know some people have mentioned the airlines would not allow shipping with out the holes in the back. Thought I would mentioned my experience with this.

Great Crate for Max!
After much research, I decided to purchase this item because it received such high reviews. I just got it in the mail and it lives up to it’s reputation. I’m very happy with my purchase. This crate is well built, especially compared with many others I checked out. My main goal of buying this crate was to travel safely with my 10lbs toy poodle. I wanted something that would be durable enough incase of accidents and roomy enough that he would be comfortable during longer trips (found many crates way too short for him). He fits perfectly inside the small size crate. I would definitely recommend this product for someone looking for a good quality crate. The only con would be that it doesn’t have many places to help strap it down to the back seat and it’s a little bulky for the seatbelt to wrap around good. You will have to be creative with securing it down.

Great Product – except NO rear vents!!
We bought two small size crates. Petmate makes a good crate! But, international air flights in particular REQUIRE venting on all four sides of the crate. The small crates are not vented in the rear. We solved this issue by drilling a bunch of 1″ holes. This is not an impossible fix, and the crate is very sturdy, but you have to have a powerful drill as the plastic is tough. I would have given the product 5 stars had the description been correct. With a correct description, I probably would have bought the crate anyway and drilled it, as I know the brand is good, but I was very annoyed to be fibbed to.

Solid crate
This is a very nice crate, the plastic is stiff and it’s easily constructed/deconstructed. The handle on the top was sturdy as well. The only complaint I have is that the small sized crate did not have air holes on the rear side (when it states that it has four-way ventilation). The airline was very insistent about having 4-way vents so I was forced to drill holes in it myself. I was flying Continental and they were satisfied with 4 holes the size of quarters. If you plan to use this to fly an animal I suggest you contact your airline to see if 3-way ventilation is ok and if not, how many holes and size of the holes you will need to meet their requirements.On a side note, if you ARE flying an animal, make sure you have all the paper work you need to insure that the airline will allow that animal to fly. Most airlines need at least a general health certificate and if you’re going overseas there may be a quarantine period required. Ask the airline. It may also be a good idea to apply a non-slip surface to the inside floor of the crate if you have a dog/cat so that they don’t slip around too much (I felt the inside of this crate was a bit slick). Safe and comfortable.
This has been my go to kennel for the last 20 years. What makes it different than most is that it has more head room and less length. It is 15″ high, 21″ long 16″ wide. I think dogs are more comfortable with head room when they want to sit up and don’t bonk their heads on the top. It’s also sturdy, well made and they seem to last forever. It also seat belts securely into the car’s rear seat to keep dogs secure in the car. I show my dogs so got a Sprinter van and had cabinets built in specifically to hold these kennels and can now carry up to 10 dogs and know they are safe.

A Must Have for Airline Travel
This was one of the few pet carriers that met ALL major airline regulations for shipping live animals. If you just need to carry your cat or small dog to the veterinarian, y o don’t need a carrier like this. However, if you ever want to fly your pet, the kennel must have metal door and metal bolts (not plastic), 4 airway sources, and no top opening. This kennel fit the qualifications and is of SUPERB quality. After safely flying a cat from Denver to NY, I donated it to a veterinarian who runs a cat rescue. The staff was overjoyed! It is large enough and secure enough to be used for sick or injured pets who might need to be transported with IV’s, bandages, monitors etc.

I already had a Petmate Vari Kennel bought a few years ago. The new one I ordered for my additional cat is not as sturdy as the original. The handle also appears weaker. It remains to be seen how it compares when I am travelling with my cats. It is a good size and colour.

Petmate Ultra Vari Dog Kennel for Small Dogs – this is well worth the money and is excellent quality you really do pay for what you get.If in doubt about buying don’t be, big enough for my 2 x Siberian female cats to go to the vets together just what I was looking for.Shame it does not come with a liner/rubber mat but I easy brought one from Amazon that is almost perfect size.Hope this helps other people deciding to buy it not.
