I decided my dogs deserved something better than what they’ve been getting but wasn’t sure they’d like it. So I mixed the Iams in with the old food and to my surprise they picked the iams out and left the old brand!

Same great IAMS product – now with more protein!
We typically feed our dog IAMS brand dog food (chicken or beef & rice), so we weren’t overly concerned with trying this high protein dog food that is actually both chicken AND beef. We mixed it first with our dog’s regular dog food and she gobbled it up and we didn’t notice any loose or odd stool the next day – which sometimes happens when we try new things. We have since given her full bowls of this food and she loves it. While are dog is starting to age, she is in great shape and has a beautiful coat, so I haven’t seen too many benefits yet, but if she likes it and it is a healthier option for her, we will continue to use it. Is this just preying on the consumer with the new “protein trend”? Probably! But at least it is in a food that makes sense instead of what humans eat (ex. Snicker’s bar with PROTEIN!”). I like that there are no artificial fillers or flavors in this dog food. And I hope over time we will start to see stronger and leaner muscles, a better coat, etc. Its about $30 for a 15lb bag, so its not cheap…but no dog food is. IAMS is a trusted brand, so I feel this is safe for our pooch.

Good quality food that the girls like
My two pups like this Iams proactive health high protein dog food with chicken and beef. My two little girls are three years old, very active dogs always running in a large yard and in the house. They aren’t picky eaters but they usually eat a grain free food which this isn’t. I have been exploring different food and Iams is what my cats eat so I was happy to try this dog food. I am mixing this with their regular food and I find that they are eating this food first, picking it out of the bowl so I would say that they like it. This doesn’t smell rank or old. This came as fifteen pounds which will last my little dogs a few weeks, this doesn’t have a zipper or any kind of way to reclose the bag so I have to roll it down to seal it once I opened it, I use a chip clip to keep it closed. The size of the food doesn’t seem to be a problem for my dogs as they eat it with gusto. Reading over the ingredients I do see that chicken is the first ingredient and that it contains rice, corn and other grains listed. It also contains additives in the way of vitamins and minerals which is good for their health. This is a good quality food ant a good value price and I will probably be switching my girls to it when I get them completely switched over from their regular food.

Great quality, dog food at a reasonable price
Great dog food at a reasonable price given the quality.I was very impressed that this dog food did not have any fillers or any artificial flavoring and that the largest protein source was from chicken and beef. I initially gave this as an extra treat for the dogs, but my dogs loved the taste of this new dog food and cannot get enough. I am not having to feed them as much as it seems they are getting full with about 20% less than what I used to feed them. They have normal bowel movements and I have not seen any problems with hard poop.My older dog has more energy nowadays, but I am not sure if it is from the new dog food. The only concern I have is with my older dog and having such a high protein diet. I’ve decided to mix my current food with this higher protein diet and to have my dog’s kidney function checked just in case and will likely monitor the kidney function over time to make sure this high protein diet is not having effects on her kidney.Overall, this is great quality dog food, but I would monitor my dog’s kidney function, especially because she is older.
