Train your pet effectively and positively with the PetSafe Clik-R Training Tool, a compact and easy-to-use device that uses the power of consistent sound to shape behavior. Whether you’re teaching basic obedience, new tricks, or advanced agility cues, the clicker creates a clear communication signal between you and your pet. With just one click, your pet knows they’ve done the right thing—followed immediately by a reward to reinforce that behavior. This sound cue pet trainer is perfect for dogs, cats, and other trainable animals. The compact shape fits easily in your hand, and the built-in finger band ensures it stays put during training sessions. Its easy-hold construction makes it a favorite among pet parents and professional trainers alike, offering comfort and control in every interaction. Whether you’re practicing indoors or heading to the park, this portable dog clicker is the lightweight, travel-friendly clicker you can rely on. Clicker training works by building an association between the click sound and a treat or praise. Pets quickly learn to anticipate a reward when they hear the click, making it easier to reinforce desirable behaviors and discourage unwanted ones. The PetSafe Clik-R can be used as early as 8 weeks old for puppies and is equally effective for adult pets. Does what it says on the tin
It’s not too loud and works as advertised. It’s funny how the manual suggests how these can be used on people. I wonder how many people bought it for that reason.

Works for Us
VOLUME: I have a 5 month old Jackahua and this appears to be perfect for us. It is a softer click, good for inside an apartment or a small courtyard. I would not recommend it for a larger dog park or in an environment with competing noises.HOLDING: I included a pic of how I hold it, as some reviewers reported difficulty. Strap on middle finger, press thumb straight down towards middle finger. This is my arthritic hand and it works well.INSTRUCTIONS: DO follow the enclosed instructions; they are competent and helpful. Do NOT just run around clicking this AT your dog or you will be here whining that it doesn’t work. The fault will be yours.REVIEWS: I looked at so many different clickers, reading the reviews, comparing prices, and I’m glad I decided on this one.PROGRESS: Since we just got it today, we are simply working on “association”. I’m keeping it next to me with a dish of crumbled treats. When she’s not paying attention to me, I’ll click and toss her a crumb. She’s a little leery of the strange noise, but she really loves these treats (Blue Buffalo), so I’m aiming for a little association practice a few times a day until she gets it into her little doggy brain than the sound means tasty thing. When she’s perfectly comfortable with that, we’ll move on to “touch”, etc.

A good dog clicker but hard to click
(I’m a woman, so I don’t have man strength in my hands.) While this clicker does work for dog training, it is actually a bit hard to click on the button. It will go down but it does (mine anyway) require a bit of strength and to push on it a certain way. It does free up my hand so that I can also hold a leash or if I needed my hands partially free for anything. The green loop on the back is a little bit too loose but it’s not a big deal. It is good deal for the money but I would get a different brand if I had to get another one.

My Aussiedoodle is scared of the sound!!
It seems great but the noise scares my rescue!

Not easy to click, inefficient for training
The clicker I received is not easy or quick to click it is ineffective and inefficient for training. It went right in the trash , thankfully I had also ordered another option that worked much better.

Could be better!
Great clicker! It’s great overall, however there is a slight defect in the press button of the clicker. It doesn’t always click. It’s a great training tool but could be better in overall functionality as far as the button goes.

Clicker Training Made Easy and Effective
There are quite a few reasons why I love this product. The compact design and attached finger band make it easy to hold. It’s a clear method of positive behavior reinforcement, and the included training guide is top-notch. The fact that it’s useful for all ages and can train various animals is a big bonus. A nice little clicker with a good sound. Overall, a brilliant tool for training pets.

Worth the extra money to make good timing more likely!
Good clicker, nice feel. I like that it’s got an elastic loop to slip your finger through and it fits well in your hand so it’s right in the perfect place to click when you need to – the biggest mistake people make with clicker training is you need to click *exactly* when they do the behavior, especially early in training and doubly so if you’re trying to shape a behavior. If you’re trying to shape a behavior and have to fumble for your clicker, even for a second…. forget about it, you’ll do more harm than good if your click then.I put a lanyard on mine….. it would be nice if it came with one because the finger loop isn’t secure enough if you want it with you while you do other things….. but oh well. It came with a pamphlet on clicker training which was surprisingly thorough, but in my humble opinion Karen Pryor’s unfortunately named book “Don’t Shoot the Dog” is an absolute must for anyone who wants to understand how to best use clicker training, and how/why it works. It’s very understandable but in-depth enough you’ll understand how to do complex training. So far I really like this clicker. I do wish it were a 2-pack (because I lose things), but ultimately I decided I’d rather have one really good clicker that would give me the best chance for good timing with minimal frustration, rather than 6 cheapo clickers I’d be fumbling with and breaking. So far so good.

For me I think the click is very quiet compared to my previous clickers but still does the job.

This is the second one of these I purchase, as a backup, because I love these so much.A bit more expensive than the cheaper alternatives, but much higher quality.Fits nicely on finger, the clicker feels sturdy, it would be difficult to accidentally press the button.Easily understood by my Shih-Tzu, Guinea pigs and Parrotlet!
